| Job description: | 1. General description - The Senior Instrument Designer is responsible in the Instrument design with in-depth knowledge. The Senior Instrument Designer will normally delegate technical and administrative task with Instrument designers and drafters such as manpower loading, work progress monitoring, quality check and review and ensure the timely issuance of engineering deliverables. - The team approach is the desired supervisory style for task force work. He must monitor the effort closely and exert the necessary control to ensure that objectives are accomplished.
2. Key Responsibilities Include: The following are general responsibilities of the Senior Instrument Designer a) Attitude And Philosophy: The Senior Instrument Designer shall be reporting to the Project Lead Instrument/Lead Designer and must adhere in the management philosophy and goals so this is communicated in a positive manner to assigned personnel. b) Communication: The Senior Instrument Designer shall interface and communicate with discipline engineer and participate in the discipline and inter-discipline clarification meetings as well as internal and external review meetings. c) Schedule And Budgets: Ensure that contract requirements are completed within the limits established by both schedule and budget. d) Supervision: Provide day-to-day supervision of assigned personnel and ensure that all work performed meets applicable codes, standards, specifications, and established company and industry practices. e) Backup Assignment: It is vital for Company to develop people for advancement to Senior ship positions. It is also vital that the Senior Instrument Designer have a person to stand in for them when they are absent. Therefore, the Senior Instrument Designer are responsible for having a backup person who is informed about the day-to-day activities on the project so that they can learn about supervisory duties and responsibilities, and so that they can continue with the Instrument Designer work during an absence. The selection of a backup person will be made jointly with the Design/Instrument staff. f) Working Rules: Ensure that all assigned personnel are familiar with and follow the company working rules. Special attention should be given to ensuring punctuality of working hours and lunch periods, with necessary corrective action taken as required. g) Performance Reviews And Counseling: Provide fair, constructive, and timely reviews and counseling for all assigned personnel. Formal performance reviews are done at least once each year. This process is initiated by the Design/Instrument staffs. The formal review is not a substitute for timely counseling as required on a day-to-day basis. Engineers and designers deserve feedback on their performance, both good and bad. h) Standards: Maintain an awareness of departmental needs in the development or improvement of standards and procedures. i) Safety: Ensure that all designs produced, and working conditions for all personnel, comply with adequate safety rules. j) Innovation: Employees should strive to find better and more effective ways of accomplishing their work. The Senior Instrument Designer should encourage innovation but must make certain that the quality of work is not compromised. However, the Senior Instrument Designer must not deviate from approved standards and procedures without authorization from their discipline Management. |

With proven competency, prepare engineering design, specification and/or recommendations for variety of the following:- Responsible for coaching, teaching, and effective supervision of assigned - Study/Prepare Instrument Layout - Study/Prepare Junction Boxes Layout (for Instrument and F&G) - Study/Prepare F&G layout - Study/Prepare ESD layout - Study/Prepare Wiring Diagram (DCS, SIS, ICSS and F&G) - Study/Prepare Hook-up (Installation Detail for Field Instrument) - Study/Prepare Support Detail for Panels and Instrument field - Study/Prepare MCT layout - Study/Prepare MCT detail - Study/Prepare Cable Tray/Ladder layout - Study/Prepare Cable Routing - Study/Prepare Support Layout for Instrument Cable Tray/Ladder - Study/Prepare Tubing Schedule - Study/Prepare Tubing Layout - Study/Prepare Telecom Layout - Study/Prepare Installation Detail for Telecom Panels - Prepare MTO (for Cable, Cable gland, tubing and fitting, steel for support, Instrument field, F&D devices, v.v...) - Prepare I-O list (if require) 4. Key Requirements: - Diploma or Bachelor's Degree - At least 10-year experiences working on with offshore and/or onshore projects from the permitting and design phases through end of project (conceptual and/or basic and/or detailed design) - Must have been in Consultants' organization for at least 3 years in similar position. - Must be Senior Instrument Designer in at least 2 successful projects in FEED/Detailed Design for Offshore Oil &Gas Platform - Making the detailed plan for training Company Instrument designers on job and also overseas to develop the engineering capacity. - Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style (in English) - Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines - Ability to represent the company to the staff, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented - Application knowledge of client's systems and programs - Ability to accurately apply codes and regulations - Ability to coordinate with all disciplines, extract and relay relevant information for complex projects - Ability to identify risks - Project Closing Report, experienced lessons after each previous completion project. |
